SNOW. The second snow day we have had in three weeks. The fourth snow we have had in the last 12 months. Most of you know that I have lived in South Carolina my entire life. Well, except for that short stint of time in Birmingham. But anyway, I know SC weather. And we just don’t get snow like this. But now we are…I think I need to get real snow gloves for the kids. Their fingers are freezing off and 4 snows in a year’s time justifies the purchase, don’t ya think?
Last night I begged Collin to let us sleep with the curtains open so we could be woken up when the snow started to fall. See, my sweet hubby needs pure darkness to sleep. I, on the other hand, love sleeping with the curtains open so that the light can come in. He agreed to my proposal last night. This morning, like EVERY morning, Mak came into our room at 6:00. I looked out the window to see not a single flake of snow on the ground. I kind of smirked at the school district for calling off school and drifted back to sleep. 16 minutes later, Clara Beth came in our room. Y’all, NO LIE, the ground was COVERED!!! It was INSANE! And so Gorgeous.
We headed downstairs for some coffee and k’nex playing and baby doll loving. We held the kids off for about an hour before they were begging to go outside. I made them do some schoolwork (math and language arts) while Collin and I got everything together. Inclement weather doesn’t cancel homeschool. 😉
And then we headed out into the BLIZZARD!!! It was so much FUN!!!
Lots of fun playing but it was FREEZING. After a while we were ready to head back inside. Time for more school work. =)
After school was done we spent the rest of the afternoon eating caramel popcorn, drinking hot chocolate, playing games and reading. It was amazingly great. I am so thankful to the Lord for blessing us with this fun and lazy day! Oh, and I just have to document…See the mug in the upper right-hand corner of this next collage? Mak and CB painted us mugs for Christmas from Wink Pottery. This one is Collin’s and Mak chose the color scheme. Green and brown. Like camouflage. He loved it. CB hated it. She thought it needed pink. After much fuss, he compromised by allowing her to put one pink thumbprint on the bottom of the mug. I love that thumbprint!
Happy Snow Day, Y’all!!! Here’s a little slideshow from our day…
LOVED your snow day! So glad y’all had a great time…yea, grew up in SC all my life and we NEVER saw that much snow…ever! We had several snow events last winter and then Christms Day…so I headed out Saturday to buy the kids proper snow clothes:) I felt it was pretty justified! Chris was less than thrilled but after our 6 inches yesterday…he is now on board! I even found most of the stuff on sale!!! A sled is on my list now…today we made do with an oversized mixing bowl from the restaurant:) Baby girl fit perfect inside and man did it fly! Only in the south:) Your snow pictures are beautiful! Have fun on your second day tomorrow!
HAHA!! I would have LOVED to see that sweet girl flying down a hill in a mixing bowl!! And, yes, I think you’re right…snow clothes are becoming a must for us Southerners. 😉
I have 2 pair of snow gloves that C has outgrown. You are welcome to them!
