Third Time’s a Charm…almost

Three. That’s how many times we have had this session scheduled. It started out as a family session which would have been perfect…except for the rain. Rain and outdoor portraits don’t mix. No problem, it was still pretty early, we just rescheduled for another afternoon and…it rained. Again. So we reschedule. AGAIN. Session Date number 3 on the books for yesterday afternoon. It could no longer be a family session because Owen and Layla’s daddy pretty much runs Salty’s and they’re just a touch busy this time of year. We all woke up yesterday morning and saw that the forecast was pretty grim, but we prayed that we would be able to push through and GET THIS SESSION!!! Gillian pulled Layla out of the car, handed her to me so we could get started with her while Owen got dressed and…YEP. The first few drops fell from the sky. Seriously?!?! We have never had a session rained out THREE times!!! Collin had approximately 7 minutes to photograph in a drizzle before the rain became so hard that we had to get out of there. Throw a teething almost 1 year old into the mix (this was scheduled as her 9 month session!) and it’s just not the ingredients for the perfect session. BUT…I LOVE some of these that he captured! This session was very much candid and letting these two be themselves and do what they do because there was no time for anything else. And these interaction portraits between them are so sweet. I hate that we didn’t have more time yesterday, but I do love what we ended up with. Gillian, we WILL get you that family session this Spring!!!

Yay!! I’m so glad you like them, Gillian!! The third one down just MELTS me. And it was all so natural. He LOVES her. He wants to protect her. And I think that’s exactly what that image says. 🙂ReplyCancel
