Like so many of you, I am confused, heartbroken, and shocked by the events that occurred yesterday in Boston. It is terrifying to think about this world that my babies, babies like sweet Easton that come see us every week, your babies…are growing up in. It’s difficult to comprehend the evil and meanness that is in this world when you stare into the eyes of your kid, right? I truly have no words to explain it, and as my children sit together playing with legos upstairs, blissfully unaware of the bombing(school is starting late for us today due to a doctor appointment), I wonder how I will answer them when they inevitably do see a news article or hear about the event. It makes my stomach and heart hurt a lot to think about. The one thing that does give me comfort is this: My Creator knew that this would happen yesterday. He knew about the school shootings that we witnessed last year. Just like He knows about the everyday, seemingly insignificant trials that we all face. I love the English Standard Version of John 16:33: “I have said these things to you, that IN ME you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” Bad things are going to happen. He guaranteed it in that verse. Sometimes they’re going to be BIG bad things, like yesterday, and sometimes they’re going to be not so big. But no matter what, the only way to find true peace is in HIM. The ONLY one who has overcome this world. Oh, Lord Jesus, Come quickly!!
Back to sweet Easton…he is precious, right? Oh Goodness, it does do wonders for your soul to hold a sweet baby! Collin and I had so much fun at this session with this sweet boy. And I LOVE the props that Daddy sent in to have him photographed with! Easton, you are a precious, precious child. We are blessed to watch you grow up!
These are awesome! Easton is my great nephew. What a precious blessing he is to all of us.
