A trip to the ER

Well- it happened last night. The trip that I have been dreading since Makgill started walking. We went to the Emergency Room last night. The worst part about it? IT WAS MY FAULT. We were getting the kids ready for bed. I had just put Clara Beth down and went to join Collin and Makgill in his room. They were just starting the Bible story on the floor. Mak was kind of dancing around on his knees. He came back toward me, just as I was raising my knee to climb in his bed. The back of his head bounced off my knee and he flew forward. Right into the corner of his bed rail. He immediately started screaming, I grabbed him and turned him to face me. His poor, sweet little face was COVERED in blood. I completely froze like an idiot. (Remember our conversation about emergencies this weekend, Courtney? It turns out I don’t do so well.) Thank goodness Collin was there. He grabbed a washcloth, said “we are going to the ER”, and went to get Clara Beth out of her crib. I rode between the two carseats on the floor of our van. You know what my sweet boy was worried about? The police man getting Mommy because she wasn’t buckled in. We drove past our Doctor’s office first to see if they were still there for evening hours. They were not, so we continued to the ER. I carried Mak in- both of us covered in blood. Mak kept asking for Dr. Farish (his pediatrician), and was upset that he was not there. We LOVE Dr. Farish. He was my doctor growing up, and takes amazing care of my babies. I can’t say enough about him. I have never had a bad experience with him. Anyway, we went back immediately and it was determined that the wound could be glued shut. We have dealt with this before with a wound on his chin. Cleaning the cut was pretty painful, and he asked us “when are they going to glue me?” Collin held him in a bear hug while they “glued” him. He cried, but was very brave and it was over quickly. On the way home, Mak made me promise that we would stay home “all day.” Of course- anything my baby wants. We all slept well last night, and things are going well today. Hopefully, we have made our last trip to the ER.

Wasn’t the first and I’m sure it won’t be the last. They knew me in the ER by first name when I was younger. Just be sure he doesn’t fall and knock out any teeth. :mrgreen:ReplyCancel
