The kids’ bathwater tonight was dirtier than it’s been since October. That makes me happy because it means they played HARD outside all day today. In shorts. It was an unbelievably gorgeous day.
Actually, I guess I don’t know if Mak’s bathwater was dirty or not because he takes showers now…all on his own. As in we say “Hey, Mak, go hop in the shower.” And then he does it. It’s still kind of hard for me to believe that he’s old enough to bathe himself. Is he going to hate me for writing things like this on the blog later in life? Hmmm…Anyway, I saw the dirty kid that went into the shower and, trust me, he had fun playing outside today.
Clara Beth is riding her bike without training wheels now. She still needs help getting started, but once she’s going she can ride around the block without falling. I’m SO Excited about this!! If she keeps it up we should be able to do family bike rides with no training wheels or bike trailer by the time summer rolls around. That’s big stuff.
Her two heroes. The men who taught her to ride. =)
Sweet Emme is doing well. She loves to eat grass and sticks. She is an ankle biter. She LOVES her kids.
Midway through the day Clara Beth and I took a little timeout to do something she’s been begging me to do for a month. You know American Girl dolls? Well, I actually still have mine from when I was a kid. I had Samantha and I gave her to CB about a year ago. The only problem is, I gave Samantha a haircut when I was a kid. And then I tried to fix it by curling it with a curling iron. Samantha has some pretty jacked up hair. You know what, though?!? American Girl has a Doll Hospital! How great is that? We are planning to do the whole American girl store/cafe thingy for her 5th birthday in May and while we were on the website she discovered the doll hospital. Today we packed Miss Samantha up to send her off for a new head. HA!
Then she decided she wanted to write a letter to the doctors who would be taking care of Samantha. I couldn’t believe the way she concentrated.
This is AMAZING handwriting for Miss CB. Girlfriend can read like nobody’s business but usually I can’t read her handwriting. Pure chicken scratch. And I really don’t care because she’s only four. I know she’ll get it eventually. But it was so sweet to see her take the time to be neat with this letter. Oh, I love her SO MUCH.
Back outside for some more play time. It was a big day for Mak, too. Today was the first day that I let him ride off on his bike without me standing in the street watching him. I nearly had a panic attack when he asked if he could do it. I sat in the front yard while he rode to the Stop sign…out of my sight. Have you learned yet from reading the blog that I’m a bit overprotective? He did great and rode that little strip of street about 300 times this afternoon. Oh, and you will see that there are 3 pics of Mak compared to the 70 of CB. Remember, I said it was a good day. Which means I didn’t force the picture thing with my boy. 😉
She wore shorts today. This can’t be the first time this child has worn shorts, but for the life of me I can’t remember ever putting shorts on her before. I just kept looking at those long string bean legs and knobby knees in shorts and laughing. Where on earth did those legs come from?!? Collin and I are certainly not known for our long legs.
She called this her Bubble Dance. It was absolutely hilarious.
And, finally…swinging. Mak and our neighbor have contests to see who can jump the farthest off of the swing. That would be great except for the great big tree that stands a few short feet in front of our swingset.
