1 pound 5 ounce MIRACLE

Two weeks ago I woke up one morning and asked Collin what we had going on in the studio that day and what he would need my help with. It’s a typical morning conversation in our household as I try to figure out if I need to juggle around some homeschooling and studio help in order to fit it all in. That day, the answer to my question was “Well, we have a newborn session…kind of. It’s with a baby named Bentley. But he’s six months old.” Huh?! I mean, come on. A newborn session with a six month old? We often get frantic calls from Mommas who have babies who are three weeks old and desperately want that newborn look but fear they have waited too long. We do everything we can to get that look for them, but that becomes really difficult after two weeks of age. But SIX months?!? How on earth were we going to do a newborn style session on a baby who was six months old? And that’s when Collin told me that, yes, Bentley is six months old, but he was born four months early. Four months premature. Oh My. He weighed 1 pound 5 ounces when he was born. Can you even imagine? He came into the studio that afternoon and Collin and I instantly fell in love. Gracious, he is such a handsome boy! As I swayed him and tried my hardest to lull him to sleep (of which he would have NO part of at first!) his sweet Momma told me all about his birth and all he has been through in his short life. We pulled up his facebook page and she showed me images from his early days in the NICU. WOW. I saw these photographs of this baby who was so impossibly teeny and then looked down at the little one I was cradling in my arms. It’s hard to believe that they are the same child. Baby Bentley is a miracle. His Momma and Daddy praise God for him and the love and thankfulness that they have for their son is written all over their faces. Bentley, Collin and I are also so thankful for you. And we praise God for your life as well. Baby Boy, I am SO glad I got to cuddle you that day! We can’t wait to watch you grow up!
