I’ve been reading this GREAT book, “Bringing Up Girls” by James Dobson. Collin and I read “Bringing Up Boys” when Mak was a toddler and vowed we would re-read it every year. Of course, we haven’t. Recently he came out with “Bringing Up Girls” and it is just as good as it’s counterpart. I am racing through it so Collin can read it, and then we plan on re-reading the boy version again, too. Anyway, one of the things he talks about in the book is the importance of little girls learning manners and also having special “Mommy\/Daughter” things that are just for the two of you. One of my favorite things to do with Clara Beth is to have special “Ladies Only” lunches. And her favorite place to go for this is Top Hat Tea Room. She loves it ’cause it’s pink. VERY PINK. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

I definitely wouldn’t call it a tea party because neither of us get tea, but it’s a girly lunch for sure. She uses real china and silver utensils and puts her cloth napkin in her lap. Oh, and I think she thinks we can only whisper here, because she speaks in the quietest voice while we are eating. It’s so stinkin’ CUTE!<\/p>\n

This was the face I got when she realized she forgot to put her napkin in her lap. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n

They brought her sandwich out with {gasp!} lettuce on it. This, my friends, is the pickiest eater on the planet. She DOES. NOT. DO. LETTUCE. But she didn’t fuss about it. She just politely asked Momma to remove it.<\/p>\n

She did eat watermelon, a CB first! And she liked it!!<\/p>\n

This is my favorite image of the day! She kept watching her water as she drank!<\/p>\n

Ummm…remember I said we were learning good manners. Tossing chips in the air and catching them in her mouth may not fit into the good manners category. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

There was ONE man in the entire restaurant. Clara Beth was appalled because this is clearly a GIRL restaurant. I mean, it’s Bubble Gum Pink! How could a BOY eat here?!? Well, she was pointing a tiny little finger at him asking me why he was there and he caught her! It was pure torture for my shy girl!<\/p>\n

He had her laughing in no time, though.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

They have this GREAT s’mores dessert for the little ones.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And then outside she fell in love with the flower box.<\/p>\n

I love this image because it’s got that typical “gaze into the flowers” 1970’s portrait look, you know? But she actually WAS longingly gazing at the beautiful flowers. Silly girl!<\/p>\n

If you have a little princess, I highly recommend Top Hat for a fun, girly lunch! And the strawberry brie panini is excellent!<\/p>\n
