This day was the whole entire reason we took this trip. Today we were visiting THE One and Only Metropolitan Museum of Art!!! Clara Beth was so excited that the entire subway ride and walk over there she kept squeezing my arm and doing that silent squeal or randomly jumping up and down. Her eleven year old dreams were coming true that day. Great Glory, I love this girl and her love of art and history and museums and learning SO MUCH. I am a much more well rounded person because of the things that she has exposed me to. I’m so very thankful for her mind and her heart!<\/p>\n

We so wanted to visit the NY Public Library, but every time we went by they were closed. Best we were able to do was the front steps.<\/p>\n

I think walking down Park Avenue beside Central Park was my favorite walk that we did. And we did it several times! I was fascinated by all of the nannies and babies!<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Finally, we made it to The Met!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We started with Egyptian art. It was amazing, and we were all blown away by the artifacts that had been removed from the tombs and temples. It absolutely helped all of the things we’ve studied in past years to be more real, not just something from a book. I can’t say enough about how incredible this exhibit is!<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

The smiling mummy sarcophagus was our FAVORITE!! All of the others wore somber expressions, and then we got to this guy!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

A selfie with a statue of Hatshepsut from her tomb!!!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

Temple of Dendur! So beautiful!<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

The Arms and Armor section was pretty incredible as well. How in the world did they fight while wearing all of that?!<\/p>\n

From here we needed a food break, so we set out in search of some New York pizza. We found some at Roma Pizza, and it was delicious!!!<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Back to the Met in search of her FAVORITES…Impressionists! Y’all, that face when she saw a REAL Monet?!? Melt me!<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

Van Gogh’s self portrait! She had studied this one this year in Classical Conversations, and seeing it in real life was incredible!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Degas, her favorite European artist because he paints ballerinas. Ballet and art, her two loves. =)<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

We still had not seen her very very favorite of all time artist, though, so we headed to the American Art wing, and saw beautiful pieces on our way there. This one, for instance. Washington Crossing the Delaware. It was massive!<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And then, THERE it was!!! Mary Cassatt!!! This is her favorite artist of all time, and she didn’t know it, but her favorite Cassatt painting, “A Young Mother Sewing” is on display at the Met! Her entire year was made in this moment. And then it got even better when two ladies who were training to be tour guides invited her to take part in their discussion. Y’all, she could have rattled off countless facts about this painting, but she was so in awe of being there and so shy that she barely got a word out. Bless her!! Seeing her face here was my favorite part of the trip!<\/p>\n

And this was Mak while all of this was going on. HAHAHAHA! This is so not his thing, but he was such a good sport and didn’t complain once. He did make me laugh repeatedly, though!<\/p>\n

Still in awe of all she had just seen…<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

And now we were Soho bound in search of some outrageous milkshakes!<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

But first he needed a pretzel. Because, remember, he’s here for the food.<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

Black Tap! I found this place on Pinterest and I’m so glad we visited! Just look at that insanity!<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"\"\"<\/p>\n

And because that wasn’t enough, we headed to Little Italy for more food. We ate at Lunella because a local that we met on the subway recommended it, and it was delicious!<\/p>\n
