Hijacking the blog from Aron for a minute…
Almost 2 years ago we moved the studio to our home and out of a storefront. Many people asked if we have second guessed this or wondered if we made the right decision and we ALWAYS say that it was certainly the right thing to do for us. Our children are at such a great age and we love them being able to come in, meet our clients, and help out with things. We also love that they can come in and hang out with me while I am doing “busy work,” you know, all of the not cool stuff about running a business.
Well, here is one more reason why we love having it here:
Yesterday while I was meeting with a client, I looked up and saw Makgill sneak in and walk over to my work table, we made eye contact and smiled and then he was gone. When I finished up, I saw that he had written a note and put it next to my computer.
It reads: “Look.on.yor.Dor.” (the “D” is backwards because he knows the lower case d goes that way)
He took the time to write THIS note out so that I would know to look for another note! He is sounding words out and spelling them on his own!!!! Now, I know that all of the words are not spelled correctly, but you sound out the words and then ask yourself “now, why is it spelled the way it is?” I always heard that English is the hardest language to learn, but never realized how true this is until trying to explain some of the rules that you follow in the English language. It is tough and he is doing so well!
Anyway, I get over to my door and see this:
He wrote a note to direct me to the real note that he wanted me to see. It reads “I.love.you! Love! Makgill” Totally awesome! It really made me realize, again, why I do what I do and where I do it. They are such a huge part of what I do and they are able to see me at work and even help me with it.
Little things like this remind me of how God has truly blessed my life! I am at home with my family, even when I am working. Aron works with me and meets our clients and does so many things that couldn’t be done before our studio was here. Makgill and Clara Beth walk around the house with an old point and shoot camera and take photographs of EVERYTHING, they even set up portrait sessions with their stuffed animals and each other. Which is so cool, because I remember using my old 110 camera and setting up portraits with MY stuffed animals. I do not have those photos anymore, but I wish I did. They see what I do and understand what I do. That is a gift that I am so thankful for.
Thank you Makgill for my notes. I Love you, Buddy. You made my day…and then some.
awwwwww! so cute!
THAT is awesome. What a great kid. 🙂
that’s for making me cry at work Collin! 😆 that is so sweet, and you and Aron are truly blessed to be able to work from your home. I’m sure I’m not the only client who is thankful to have your kids come in during a session to help out! many of the smiles on Layla’s face were because of them.
Sweetest thing ever! I don’t know what things were like before you moved the studio to your home, but I can’t imagine you not having Aron’s help! Also, I love seeing your kids when I am there!
That is AWESOMELY SWEET!!! I saw that note on the door today and it made me smile 🙂 I didnt know the story behind it though 🙂 I, too, (well Nicholas even more) love it when your babies attend a session! It makes it so much more “home-y”! And it does NOT seem like it has been 2 years since you moved the studio!
Ok.. thats awesome! I also know what its like to have an awesome child.. MC has learned how to email and she sends me emails at work that say ilove you mom … Just great!! You are very lucky that your children can witness you and Aron working together as a team and can be there for them after school! I am with Gillian.. thanks for making me cry!
Oh and to Makgill…..I appreciate the way he made MC feel so special in wanting to “take” her pictures the other day too… She felt on top of the world… what a great match those too (lol)
So very, very sweet!!
