Psalm 95:1-6 Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song. For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all gods. In His hand are the depths of the earth, and the mountain peaks belong to Him. The sea is His, for He made it, and his hands formed the dry land. Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for HE is our God…
I LOVE this day. My favorite of the year by far. We are SO SO unbelievably blessed. I love that there’s a whole day devoted to focusing on those blessings and thanking the Lord for all He has given to us.
We do the big Thanksgiving meal late in the afternoon at my parents’ house. This is perfect for me because it means I have the whole morning to lazily sit around in pajamas watching the parade with my three favorite people in the world. I make Collin stay in his pajamas. This KILLS him but he loves me so he does it on this one day. Plus, it’s fun to watch him get that nervous twitch when we’re getting close to 10:00 and he’s still wearing them. We make a big breakfast together and just enjoy having nowhere to be.
This kid is melting me. Look at that huge hole in his mouth. He’s lost four teeth and he talks with a little bit of a lisp because of it. He has a tough time eating certain things. He is seriously the cutest thing in the world to me right now.
And her. Gracious, she’s growing up fast. All of the sudden she has these long legs and resembles NOTHING of a baby anymore. I’m catching glimpses everyday of her as she will be as a lady…not a baby girl. She still snuggles like crazy and fits perfectly in my lap. I’m pretty sure I’ll need major therapy when she no longer fits there…
We do a big breakfast since we aren’t doing our huge meal until later in the day. It’s one of those things that we started one year and it just kind of became our “thing”. I love “things” and this time of year is chock full of them. This year’s breakfast menu: pumpkin bread, sausage, eggs, and hot curried fruit.
Collin and I each do our thing in the kitchen and the kids go back and forth between sitting at the bar watching us and curling up on the couch watching the parade.
Miss CB set the table by herself for the first time this year. She was very proud and took the job VERY seriously. See? Growing up.
Miss Em was quite appreciative of a morning of uninterrupted snuggles.
Mashed potatoes. It’s all I’m required to bring to my parents’. No clue what in the world I’ll do when my mom relinquishes Thanksgiving dinner to us to prepare. I guess we’ll just have a bunch of mashed potatoes because the thought of preparing a turkey terrifies me.
Emme enjoyed the dog show greatly. Clara Beth was pretty miffed at the fact that Emme would not be considered “good enough” to participate in the event. I think she wanted to parade her out there next year. 😉
We head over to my parents’ around 3:00. I wish I was better about photographing over there but the truth is I just enjoy being with everyone. Watching the cousins play and loving on little babies. Here are the few photos that I took.
Thanksgiving 2011 was WONDERFUL. And now we get to move on into Christmas. I just love this time of year and I’m so excited about tree decorating, hot cocoa, the Jesse tree, looking at Christmas lights, Christmas movies, baking with the kids…I could go on and on. Hope you all had a fabulous day yesterday!!
