Thanksgiving 2010!

They will celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness. Psalm 145:7
I hope you all had THE BEST Thanksgiving and are lazily napping this rainy day away. Unless you’re out shopping at the best store around town, Tomlinson’s (shameless plug of family business). Seriously, though, they’ve got some really great stuff this season. Okay, enough of that. I entertained the thought of heading out at 4AM to hit Target for about 30 seconds last night. I’ve never done the middle of the night Black Friday thing. In a way it seems like a lot of fun…watching the crazy people, possibly getting an insane deal…but then I think about the lines that wrap around the building to get in the store. And compared to my nice warm bed? Shopping with crazy strangers doesn’t stand a chance.
Yesterday was such a great day. It was a day full of rest and relaxation and family and it was exactly what we needed. We are so incredibly blessed and all too often I don’t take the time to think about all of those blessings. I needed a day to reflect on the many ways that God has blessed my life. We started the morning lazily with coffee and coffecake. Perfect. I had it all set up in the dining room and then Mak asked if we could eat out on the deck. Well, when you live in South Carolina and it’s 75 degrees on Thanksgiving Day, you can eat breakfast outside. It was fun. We sat around and did the whole cliche “What are you thankful for?” thing. I love that cliche, though. And I love hearing Mak and CB’s sweet answers. =)
After breakfast we watched the parade, did a little bit of Wii playing and were pretty lazy. Again…LOVE it. And then me and my little Momma-in-training made Pioneer Woman mashed potatoes to take to my Mom and Dad’s house later. She loves helping in the kitchen! Sweet girl.
Then we went out for…the TREE!!! We got a real live tree this year! I’m so excited. I was set on finding a tree farm to take the kids to but I never found one that I heard good things about around here. Oh well. We went to Lamb’s and found the perfect tree for our space. It had to be short because it’s going in the sunroom. I can’t wait to wrap it in colored lights and let the kids decorate it however they want to!
And these photos just make me laugh. Mak and Collin working to get the tree up and Miss CB rolling her eyes at their effort. Funny thing is, the tree stand started leaking water all over the playroom floor about 15 minutes later so the tree is now standing on the back steps until we get a new stand. Oops.
Finally it was time to head to my parents’ house for TURKEY!!! Lots of cousins and grandparents and friends…it was perfect. Nothing makes me happier than great big, loud, chaotic family gatherings. And ours are always loud and chaotic. The food was delicious as always, the babies were kissable and the conversation was entertaining. It was a great way to end a great day. =)
And in case you haven’t been on facebook…we have a Black Friday sale going on!!!! And it’s a REALLY GREAT one!!! 40% off of regular prices on gallery wraps (on already proofed sessions)!! Email your order in by midnight tonight to get this great deal! collin@cmsmithportraits.com
