We’re creeping up on Christmas pretty rapidly, so I guess I better get Thanksgiving documented if it’s going to happen this year. It didn’t happen last year, and when I went to look back at how we spent Thanksgiving 2013 and I couldn’t find it, I was sad. As if it was any different from any of our other Thanksgivings. But still. It wasn’t there. Thanksgiving is my favorite day of the year. It’s the perfect mix of time spent with the three people I love the most, balanced with time with extended family that I’m crazy about.
Laziness in the morning as we watch the parade and have a big breakfast. Pajamas are a must for me which makes Collin crazy. He gets twitchy if he stays in pajamas too long after waking up. Me? Not so much. Give me a good lazy day every few months or so and I will happily stay in pajamas all day long. Drives Collin insane.
She’s a big fan of the parade. Just like her momma.
He gets pretty bored by it. Just like his daddy.
Every year the kids request hot curried fruit as part of the Thanksgiving breakfast menu. Other items change, but this is a constant. Only they hate the taste of curry, so it’s actually just hot brown sugar and cinammon fruit. But we still call it hot curried fruit.
Pioneer Woman Baked French Toast.
Not sure what this face was about but it’s one we see frequently when the camera is pointed in his direction these days.
Around 2:00 we head to my Mom and Dad’s for the rest of the day. Anrew and Erin were there early this year too, so we did a few photos in the backyard. Reeves and Rebecca weren’t there yet, and Tallon cried sad tears when he realized that he missed out on family photo time. 😉
Back inside where Lilah Drew tried out the brie and goat cheese appetizer. For the record, she’s not a fan.
That face. LiLi, what were you thinking putting this out there making it look like something that tasted good?
She forgave you. =)
My mom’s best friend from high school always comes to Thanksgiving. When you’ve only experienced three Thanksgivings in your lifetime, it’s hard to remember who is always there. Lilah Drew kept walking up beside her and her husband and just staring, no clue where they came from and why they were there. It was pretty funny.
Lots of extended family!! Love it!
Oh My Goodness, this kid. He recently lost a tooth {a Cannon tradition, apparently} at the Rail Trail which made him grow up before our eyes by about three years. I love him so much I can’t handle it! Every family needs a little boy in it constantly. They’re just so much fun. I don’t know what in the world we’re going to do when he’s not so little anymore.
Jacob {my cousin from California who is at Clemson} provided the entertainment. Flying experiences. Big hit.
He was outdone by the big girl cousins’ superb rendition of Let it Go, though.
Sweet Caroline was in rare form! I loved it!
Sweet sugar baby! Her thing these days is praying for a baby. I am fully 100% behind her in this endeavor. She busts out with random statements about it constantly. Like a few weeks ago when out of the blue she told my mom “Guess what, Lili? I am SO Excited! Daddy prayed for God’s will and that means we are going to have a baby!” Oh, and she’s praying for not just any baby, but a cute one. Because when you’re asking, might as well go all out, right? And just to be clear, as of now there’s no chance of a baby coming anytime soon. #mybrotherandrewistheholdup
It was such a great Thanksgiving. I love those people so much! That weekend we went and got our tree. We always take Buck because why not? But I don’t think we’ll all fin in the truck next year. Darn kids keep growing.
He has a candy cane in his mouth and he’s humoring me with a smile that’s so fake. But I still think he’s the cutest boy ever. And then there’s our sweet girl, ready to jump in front of the camera at any moment’s notice. 3000 pictures of her for every one of Makgill.
Decorating the tree should be a magical experience, right? Christmas carols, hot chocolate, happy children. It actually was pretty great this year. Not too much bickering and they indulged their momma as I made them relive the memories of the past year through our picture tree.
I have an obsession with Christmas mugs. Collin LOVES that. Can’t get enough of the obsene amount of tree covered mugs spilling out of the cabinets. You hear my sarcasm there, right?
Sometimes hot chocolate burns.
He said this was his favorite memory from this year.
And there you have it. Thanksgiving 2014, recorded in a blog post so that this momma can relive it with her grand babies years and years from now. Because they’ll care, right? =)
