Do the Facebook memories get you? The ones that pop up in your news feed every day? They kill me. Sometimes it’s not so bad but sometimes it’s one of those memories that just has me sniffling in my morning coffee cup. Today was one of those days. Five years ago we didn’t know if this kid was going to be our niece or nephew. The entire family was crowded in the waiting room at Mcleod, anxiously awaiting the arrival of a brand new baby. No clue if he was a boy or girl. Thinking that more than likely, he was a girl. Y’all, I am SO SO SO glad that this child was a BOY! I love this kid! I am in complete denial that we are already celebrating his FIFTH birthday. He is absolutely the coolest five year old I know. Every time you walk past him he will raise his hand to give you a high five. No acknowledgement other than that, but he is going to give you a high five. He thinks he’s ten. His best buddies are the contemporaries of his older brother and they all think he’s the coolest. Oh, I love this child! Yesterday we celebrated Tate with a pool party. And these photos are nothing special at all. They’re not good at all, actually. But they are of him and I haven’t done an adequate job of documenting family events lately, so they are special to me. And they will be blogged. Tate Cannon, Happy Birthday! I am so thankful for you and so happy that you were born into our family! We love you, Buddy!
Planning his birthday date with Lili. He said he wasn’t going to dress handsome because it was just Chick Fil A and he didn’t have to.
Oh, you’re a cutie! And also Rebecca, how do you look even younger now than you did when you had him? Seriously, you look like a teenager.
This was absolutely HILARIOUS. That picture of Elliana with the watermelon? I was getting her to look at me by telling her I was going to take her watermelon. It worked, she opened her peepers for me. But then I walked over to Lilah Drew and she looks at me with that deadpan expression and says “You can get your own watermelon.” HA! Someone was not amused with my picture taking tactics. I love that girl.
I love his excitement!
So much excitement for the piñata…
But then it breaks and the fun’s all over and then you pout. Because you are five. And you are CUTE.
Elly’s first warhead experience…
And a little warhead competition between some nine year olds. Because with nine year old boys, IT IS ALL A COMPETITION.
This is Tallon’s “Hello, Ladies…” look. Ha!
And evidently Aiden is some sort of machine because he didn’t even flinch at the sourness that is a warhead. I foam at the mouth at the mere mention of the name.
Sweet CC learned to swim this week!!
Goodness, he’s cute.
So Tate turned five. It was fun and he is absolutely one of the sweetest things in my life. I opened up Zulily this morning and saw a tee shirt that said “Taters gonna Tate”. Um, YES. Basically, that sums him and his awesomeness up. Taters gonna Tate. Peace out, yo.
