Personal Post: Clara Beth’s Tenth Birthday Surprise!

Ten is apparently the year for the Surprise Party in the Smith house, and this past Friday night was Clara Beth’s turn. I was pretty confident that she knew what we were up to and that there would be no surprise. Turns out she knew a party was headed her way (she saw the pink and blue ice cream cups rolling around in the back of my car), but had no idea when the surprise would occur. I’ll take it as a win. We hit the party planning jackpot on Thursday morning when we were doing a first birthday session in the studio and the sweet momma of the baby walked in with the most perfectly pinterest inspired garlands and tissue paper pom moms. Jokingly I told her she could just leave the decorations and we would use them the next day at CB’s party, and y’all, she did!! They were the exact colors that we were using for the party and WOW, they were gorgeous! So, Thank You, Jenna!!!

And the cake! Another inspiration from a studio client. This one was from Brittany and Brett’s wedding a few weeks ago. I saw their cake that Freeman’s created and I knew that our girl would love it. They recreated it for us (on a much less grand scale). So basically I have our awesome studio clients to thank for this party coming together like it did. Good Gracious, I love the people that this career has brought through our doors!

And the studio’s sparkle backdrop created the perfect table cloth to tie it all together!Proof-002Proof-004Proof-005

Her daddy picked her up some flowers while he was out because he knew she would love them. =)

The girls arrived at 5:00 and were so sweet planning out where they would hide and how they would surprise her when she walked in the door. I am so thankful for these girls!

Her reaction when they all popped up and shouted “SURPRISE” was priceless! sFirst the look of pure confusion and then she turned around and walked back out the door! HAHAHA!Proof-018Proof-020Proof-024

She came back in and headed straight for her daddy. I’m so happy we surprised her!

Then we headed outside for games. Cookie Face, Slack-lining, and the big tree swing.

Proof-031Proof-032

Collin demonstrated Cookie Face for the girls. You start with a cookie on your forehead and try to get it into your mouth without using your hands. I think it’s even more fun to watch someone else doing it than to play it yourself!

Cake Time!!!

And finally, back outside for more games.

Proof-110Proof-111Proof-113

For this game the girls had to transfer ping pong balls from one bowl to another using only a spoon in their mouth. No hands. Some of them were really good! Some of them were cheaters. 😉

Her new camera smile. HELP.

Proof-126

I intended to do a photo booth in the studio but didn’t want to drag the girls back inside for that. So instead we rolled old Shirley Bug into the front yard and piled the girls on top of it. Way cuter than my photo booth idea anyway!

Not sure what’s going on here but I love Mak’s face in the background.

Proof-138

Love every one of these girls!

It turned out to be such a fun night and my girl felt loved which is really all that was important. We love you, Clara Beth Smith!!

It was so much fun! And to the Mommas of these girls: Fred made the comment that Makgill was a lucky boy. He may not know it yet but he is lucky.ReplyCancel
