Florence, SC Newborn Photographer: Miss Ella Craig!

A few years ago Collin photographed this gorgeous couple for their wedding, Jennifer and Ty. I will always remember their Engagement session because number 1 it was at a completely AMAZING location that I could never forget and number 2, the couple. Jennifer and Ty were so in love. I loved watching them interact, and the way he treated her…it was very clear that he was head over heels for his beautiful bride. I remember saying to Collin after the wedding was over “I can’t wait for those two to have a baby…”. Fast forward a couple of years. I’m on Facebook one night and Jennifer pops in with a chat asking me about the Baby Plan…AHHHH!!! I was so excited to see one of my favorite couples become parents!

We made it to the end of the pregnancy and had a maternity session set up. We would be doing the session down in Bluffton, at Jennifer’s old family home. That’s right, the same location where we did the engagement session. I LOVE this place. I think I’ve mentioned that before. It’s perfectly Southern and peaceful and let’s just say that if I had a porch like that to sip my coffee on every morning I would be a worthless woman because I would never get up from the rocking chair. =) We were all set to leave in a few days (Collin the kids and I would be camping at Hunting Island…remember that trip? Mak’s birthday?) and then we got a call from Jennifer that things weren’t quite right and she wouldn’t be able to travel. Bummer, but not a huge deal really. We could just do the session here in town. The important thing was keeping Momma and Baby safe. But then we got another call from Jennifer’s sister-in-law LaDonna saying that the baby was coming. NOW. The maternity session never happened. BUT, a very healthy and GORGEOUS baby girl was born that afternoon, Miss Ella Craig. We moved her newborn session a few weeks early. You would think that would be the end of the saga, right? Wrong. We did end up going camping. We had a great time, but if you’ll remember back to that camping blog post, Mak brought home some not-so-great souvenirs from the trip. Two ticks. In his head. It still makes my skin crawl when I remember them squirming around. EWW. Anyway, I found the ticks just as Jennifer was walking up the studio steps with Ella Craig for the newborn session. I had to take him to the doctor and wouldn’t be there for the session. Collin and I always do newborn sessions together. Newborn safety in photography is a HUGE deal to us and we don’t feel comfortable without having hands near the newborn at all times. Thankfully, LaDonna (Remember? Sister-in-law. Is this confusing enough for you?) was there to be the baby spotter. They did the first part of the session while I sat at the doctor’s office with Mak. The session was beautiful and I arrived back at the studio just in time to meet Miss Ella Craig and have her poop all over me. Little Stinker. =) We decided to bring Ella Craig back a couple of days later to get a few more poses. She did amazing for session #2 as well. Jennifer mentioned that she would love some family photos, but Ty had been unable to attend either of the other sessions. He could do Fridays. They left the studio after session #2 and we checked the studio messages where we learned that our Friday session would need to be rescheduled due to a sick kid. Yep, you guessed it, we called Jennifer to let her know, and Jennifer, Ty, and Ella Craig came in on Friday for a family session. One baby, one week, three sessions. That has never happened here before! I love each and every session, though, and I’m so glad we did them all! Ella Craig, you are one loved baby girl! We look forward to watching you grow! And Jennifer and Ty, Congratulations on becoming a Momma and Daddy. I know y’all are going to be great at it!
