Collin and Clara Beth had a much anticipated date last night at the Father/Daughter dance at the Civic Center. She has been talking non-stop all week about her ” beeyuuteefull” dress that she would wear and showing us her dance moves. Most were ballerina twirls and walking around on her tippy-toes. Probably not the typical moves you would see at the dance, but she was so darn CUTE and this Momma was not about to dash her spirits! The prospect of the dance became a little bit iffy earlier this week when she started running a fever, but thankfully all was well by Friday and our little princess was able to join her daddy at the ball. She even took a nap on Friday afternoon, something she hasn’t done in 6 months. I thought the nap would help, but apparently I was mistaken. Miss Priss woke up in a GRUMPY, whiny mood, and stayed that way until she and Collin got to the restaurant. Once they were there, though, he said the smile didn’t leave her face and she had the time of her life dancing the night away! I so wish I could have been there to see it all! Collin ADORES his baby girl. And Clara Beth thinks Daddy hung the moon. I’m so glad they had this night together, just the two of them!
I asked Collin for some pictures of CB’s dress. He obliged. Thanks, Honey! I found this dress in Charleston last summer and it has very quickly become my favorite Miss CB dress. Expect a portrait session of her in it in the very near future!
Before the dance, Clara Beth and I headed over to Kristin and Anna’s house for some girly primp time before the Daddies arrived to pick the little ladies up. It was so fun! The girls were completely WILD!!!
After the bath, Carlisle and Jennie arrived to paint fingernails, do hair and get dressed. More fun girl time!
Daddies Arrived! Time to get dressed!
Collin brought her a rose instead of a corsage because we didn’t think she would wear anything heavy on her arm. She loved her rose, and it turns out we were right about her not wearing anything on her arm. He also brought her a pearl bracelet and she REFUSED to wear it!
Anna showing off her “sparkle” nails!
Three beautiful girls and their handsome daddies, all dressed up and ready to go!
Oh, I LOVE them!
And they were off!
Mak and I had a date night, too. I gave him the choice of any restaurant. This was a tough decision for him. First he chose Ihop, then Miyami, then he decided he just wanted to go home, and then he changed his mind once again and opted for CiCi’s, because it has a salad bar! My big boy started eating salad this week, but only if it has “sauce”. We talked through the entire meal and the best part of the night was when he told me that he loves me “100 billion trillion thousand horsepower”. Only a little boy would say this! I LOVE him!!! We headed home and took a bike ride, played with legos, and watched a movie while we waited for Collin and Clara Beth to get home.
I know that all four of us thought it was the perfect evening. I’m already excited about the next Daddy/Daughter, Mommy/Son date night! It is definitely going to become a regular thing in the Smith household!
Hannah was CB’s age when she and Darryl started going to the Father/Daughter dance. . .they BOTH look forward to it every year!
Loved your pictures and CB’s dress is absolutely beautiful!
I love, love, love the picture of CB in the bathtub. It is all about her beautiful eyes.
So many of my friends on facebook ask about the color pop portraits. Everyone loves them! I was thinking it might be nice to have a few cards for when people ask. Maybe the next time y’all are in Columbia?
Absolutely, Ellen! We will definitely get some to you!
