Mak’s 5th Birthday DISNEY Trip…Day 1!

Many of you know that I’m somewhat Disney-crazed. We have annual passes this year, and go a good bit. Collin has photography conferences and portrait sessions down there, and this is the last year that we will be able to take Mak out of school with no penalties, so we decided that if we were ever going to have Annual passes, this would have to be the year. This trip, though, is the one that started it all. This trip has been planned for many, many years. My mom has always said that when each of her grandchildren turn 5 she wants to take them to Disney. So, last year we began planning the big 5th Birthday trip! We even talked my brother, Reeves, and his wife, Rebecca into coming with us and bringing their two kids, Tallon (3) and Tess (3 months). Then we convinced my Aunt Dee Dee and cousin Laura to come along as well! It was a GREAT trip!

It started last Wednesday when we pulled out of Florence at 4:30am. I know it’s early, but I like arriving at Disney by early afternoon, so leaving early just works well for us. The trip down there was good. A Cracker Barrel stop and a couple of potty breaks and we were there! Collin had a portrait session at Port Orleans French Quarter that afternoon, so he and I headed over there while Mom, Dad, Reeves, Rebecca, and the kids headed to Hollywood Studios. The session was GREAT! The trip to Hollywood Studios…not so much. Evidently, the crowds were AWFUL and all they got to do was Lights, Motors, Action. I think Reeves and Rebecca were beginning to wonder why they decided to do this trip.

So after the session we headed over to The Beach Club resort to eat at one of Mak’s Favorites, Beaches and Cream. And, finally, the picture-taking started! Up until this point the camera had been packed away. Kids were exhausted, parents and grandparents were exhausted, but the meal was FUN!

They were completely crazy, running around the restaurant scream-laughing and having the time of their lives! I love Disney!

There’s this thing called The Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream. It’s a kitchen sink FULL of ice cream and every topping that the restaurant offers. When you order it the main lights go out in the restaurant and warning lights come on, waitresses come out shouting a description of the dessert…Mak has wanted to get it since his first visit here. Last Wednesday, he got it!

YUM!!!

We all helped him finish it

Then it was DEFINITELY time to get back to the hotel and get to bed. Patience was wearing thin, meltdowns were starting, and Reeves was starting to figure out how much this first day had cost him. 😉

Sleep came very quickly for us all! Isn’t she just the sweetest little Princess?!? I LOVE that baby girl!
