I haven’t met Garrison or his beautiful Momma in person, but I feel like I know them. Angela and I “facebook met” a few weeks ago after Collin met with her in her home to discuss an upcoming family portrait. Like I said, I don’t know her in person, but I do know that she is an amazing woman taking care of an amazing little boy. Garrison was born nearly two years ago, and shortly after his birth it was discovered that he has something called Spinal Muscular Atrophy. SMA is a disorder that has left Garrison with very little muscle tone as well as feeding and breathing difficulties. As I mentioned before, they are planning a family portrait next week. While we were away over Spring Break, Garrison got sick. Collin and I were reading over Angela’s facebook statuses after we got back into town last night and were overwhelmed with what this mother has been going through in recent days. To say that she loves this baby boy is an understatement. He is her life. I can feel her love, pain and fear with each status that I read. It hurts my heart to read…I can’t imagine what she is going through. Collin contacted her last night to see if we could possibly move the session up. She said we could do it today, but that only she and Garrison would be able to be there, not the whole family. I am so glad that Collin had this time with them this morning. This mother/son relationship is unbelievably precious, and I am so thankful that it has been documented. We will still meet with the whole family as planned next week, but I am so glad that we started with this part of the session.
Angela, you are beautiful and I loved seeing your relationship with Garrison in this session. Garrison, you are an amazing little boy! I can’t wait to meet you both in person!
