Y’all, Christmas pictures just make me so happy!! I get that it’s still October. I get that we haven’t even done the Halloween thing yet. That it was 90 degrees outside just last week. But I LOVE LOVE LOVE these sessions! The twinkling lights and pretty wrapped up packages and garland…this studio gets me in the Christmas spirit way earlier than anyone should probably be in the Christmas spirit. Last year one of our long term clients said that their Christmas session at our studio was always their families’ personal holiday kick off. That was a huge honor! They are sessions that we look forward to every year, and we are so glad that y’all enjoy them too. Now on to the purpose of this post, the 2014 Christmas sets.
First, our Woodland Trees. I saw these in the Restoration Hardware Christmas catalog last year and fell in love. Then after Christmas they went on sale and we snatched them up! They are the perfect neutral Christmas backdrop in my opinion. They give off a beautiful, warm glow, and have worked perfectly with any style and color of clothing that we have photographed them with. As much as they hate it, our little munchkins are readily available to us to model, so we requested their services again this year to help us show this background option. Mak agreed to once, CB twice. Typical. Clara Beth’s red dress was from Pretty N’ Bliss and I love how it worked out. Rhonda has a ton of beautiful dresses in her shop that would work great for any of these sets. Y’all go check them out! And then the second pictures of Clara Beth…well, y’all just ignore her messy hair. We added a few things to the set and grabbed her from her school work really quick to photograph it. Messy Hair Don’t Care. Actually, I love her messy hair, although I would probably have brushed it a little bit if these were her for real Christmas photos. Anyway, you get the idea of the set, and also see that a wide range of colors work really well here. Winter Woodland will be available November 5-8 by appointment only.
Our second new set also incorporates lights…over a thousand lights, actually! This one was one of those happy accidents that we ended up falling in love with! Last year our good friend and card designer, Julie, was coming in to do her family session in the portrait garden, only it was raining like CRAZY. Rain obviously means no outside session, so Collin threw this together and it turned out SOOOO Fun!! Merry and Bright! That’s the name of this set and to me it screams joy and fun. Again, all types of clothing will work well here. Casual or fancy, and pretty much any color you could dream up will be beautiful. In fact, I can’t wait to get this set up again to photograph Clara Beth in that red dress from above. This set is great for families or children. We’re super excited about this one! Dates for Merry and Bright are November 12-15 by appointment only.
Our two outdoor sets this year are ones we have used in the past and they’re so popular that we have decided to bring them back again. Of course, our beloved Buck the Truck, loaded down with gifts and a Christmas tree. There’s not a lot to say about this one. It is perfect for a family in jeans…but also dressing a little fancier gives it an unexpected twist that looks great! Buck the Truck will be hanging out in the portrait garden all decked out in his Christmas finery for ALL Christmas dates, November 5-8 and 12-15 by appointment only.
And lastly, The Christmas Gate. So traditional. So beautiful. I know I’m sounding like a broken record here, but this one is one of my favorites. It feels so classic to me, and children really stand out with this one. It’s a gorgeous way to document your child in a portrait at Christmas time! I love this one for more traditional clothing, however a casual look with jeans would work equally well. The Christmas Gate is also available for ALL Christmas session dates, Nov 5-8 and 12-15 by appointment only.
