Last weekend was one of those weekends that will stick near the top of my memory list when it comes to really great weekends. Last weekend was the first of what I hope will become many Church at Sandhurst camping weekends. It was lazy, funny, relaxing, and chaotic…but mostly it was just comfortable. You know what I mean? There was always someone available to entertain children. Always a friend close by to have a casual OR deep and meaningful conversation. There were funny moments around the campfire (like when a certain 6 year old asked for a cigarette) and intense campfire conversations after the little ones were tucked in. There was always some activity to do…but no one cared if you slipped away to grab a much needed nap in your cabin/tent/camper, either. It was perfectly relaxing and just FUN. I knew some people much better on Sunday when we left than I did when we arrived at the campground on Friday afternoon. And that’s really what the weekend was about. Fellowship. We ended the weekend with a church service around the campfire where Bo led us in a discussion of the importance of fellowship and weekends like this one. Not gonna lie, I could get used to church around a campfire.
Matthew 18:20 “For where two or three gather in my name, there I am with them.”
I’m going to let the photos speak for themselves, but I really hope that this trip becomes a biannual thing! And that it quadruples in size. So if you’re a Sandhurst person, or even if you’re not and just want to come along on a fun trip, join us next time!! I promise you won’t be sorry!
Nothing says “It’s gonna be a great weekend” like a giant jumping pillow. Can I get an Amen?
Yes, we were camping. But, yes, teeny nails had to be done.
Why the face on this one? Because he WALKED INTO THE POND. And ruined the only pair of shoes he brought. I have no idea why he did that.
Back to nails.
Headbanz!! Super fun camping game!
Fishing was a fun activity. Never saw a fish caught, but the kids had fun trying.
And putt-putt. I have to confess, I really do not like this game. Really. But kids do, so Oh Well.
Remember how I don’t like putt-putt? Well, I happen to love my blond-headed six year old, and she requested putt-putt so I obliged. I loved being with her. I still did not love the putt-putt.
While Miss CB and I were putt-putting, our boys were riding a Monster Truck through a swamp. Oh Yeah, they were. CB and I got there just in time to see them drive back.
By far his favorite activity of the weekend!
We went on this Magic Pumpkin Hayride where the kids planted a pumpkin seed and glitter and spit on it, then went back the next day to see if a pumpkin grew. Stay tuned to the end of the blog post to see if they did, in fact, grow a pumpkin. Mak sat this one out.
Back at Bo and Leslie’s camper…just hanging out. The best part of the weekend. =)
Saturday night the kids dressed up and went trick-or-treating. So Cute!
Not a costume. Just baby feet. But you know how baby feet kill me!
My Cowgirl
And my soldier. Love.
And we think his sister’s the dramatic one…
See how he’s eating his eyeball? Clever.
Great Day, those are some CUTE young ‘uns!
OUCH.
Guess what?! She grew a pumpkin! She’s pretty sure they just put them out there at night, though, because there was no vine. Duh.
It was such a fantastic weekend. We’re ready to go back right now. I say let’s get a Spring trip planned soon!!
