I’ve decided to document this trip one day at a time. That way none of us get too overwhelmed by the obnoxious amount of pictures, and I will have a more organized report of my trip to help me remember things. And, I should warn you, I plan to write A LOT. I don’t want to forget anything, and I want the kids to be able to look back on this one day. If you don’t feel like reading, just scan through the pictures. I promise it won’t hurt my feelings! At the end we’ll post a slideshow of the entire week.
The craziness began at 4:30am on Saturday, Dec 1. You see, Collin and I have learned that our children DO NOT travel well in the afternoon. In fact, they are FINISHED with the car by 2:00 in the afternoon. Never fails. They will travel in the evening, but that would have put us at Disney in the middle of the night, and that’s just not an option for me. I was ready to start this vacation! So, we met the Grangers at a gas station on I-95 at 4:30 and we were off! YAY!!!!! The vacation that we had been planning for nearly a year was FINALLY starting! The kids traveled so well. We had a stop for breakfast, 2 more potty stops, and we were there by 12:30!
I’m not sure if you can see them, but that’s Brandon and Jessica waving.
Mak had his camera out as soon as we got close. He’s his Daddy’s Boy!
We arrived! Our home for the week was The Polynesian. We LOVED it! We stayed in the Fiji building, and had a great room. Lots more space than we’ve had at other resorts, and being on the Monorail line was wonderful. It was just so convenient to get to the parks. We highly recommend it!
Originally, we were not planning on going into the parks that first day. We thought it would be best to just hang out at the hotel and relax. But a few weeks before we left, I looked on the Disney website and noticed that Aladdin’s Magic Carpet ride would be under refurbishment from Dec 2-8 (our days in the parks). This is Makgill’s third trip to Disney, and he remembers EVERYTHING. And his absolute favorite is Magic Carpets. There was no way my Baby Boy wasn’t going to ride that ride! So we checked into the hotel and immediately hopped onto the monorail and headed to the Magic Kingdom.
When we got there, Main Street was CROWDED. So crowded, that they directed us behind the scenes around Tony’s restaurant, behind the stores on Main St, and dumped us out at Tommorow Land. They even instructed Collin not to take any pictures (gasp!). They were filming the Christmas Day parade, so Main St was packed, but the rest of the park was fine. We made our way SLOWLY around the park to The Magic Carpets, and got in line. The kids were all CRAZY with excitement. We were to board our carpet next, and, of course, Mak announces that he has to “go tee-tee weally bad”. And when he says that, we listen! Collin ran off with him in search of the bathroom. Thankfully, the ride attendant let them get back in line with us after a quick potty break. The ride did not disappoint…My Boy was THRILLED to be back! We then did the Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse, and decided to get back to the hotel and get settled in our rooms before supper at The Kona Cafe (Delicious, by the way, but no pics from the meal. My favorite from the trip, though.). Yes, we only did 2 attractions that day, but we were exhausted and it was totally worth it just to see my Baby on his favorite ride!
Don’t you think this precious face is worth it?? He was SO Happy to be back!
Leading his best buddy to his favorite ride…
I LOVE this Boy!
Brandon, Lilah, and Parson’s first Disney ride ever!
Sweet Baby Girl was just happy to not be strapped down in a carseat anymore!
Exploring the Treehouse
And a little bit of flirting on the boat ride back to the hotel.
While we put the clothes away, Parson and Makgill grabbed their “Captain Hook swords” (Dollar Store finds) and had a quick little sword-fight outside. Notice the Lightening McQueen bedroom shoes. It was so nice to have this area for the kids to play outside. I highly recommend a 1st floor room for this reason!
We were back from supper at 7:30 and in bed shortly after. The kids had no trouble falling asleep that night, and neither did we! Next up…Breakfast with Pooh and Jessica finds a boyfriend! Will she dump Brandon for him??? The suspense is killing you, right?!?
I’m anxiously awaiting Day 2! I feel like I’m there with you!
