More Birthday Fun

Tonight we celebrated Collin’s birthday with my family. As usual, the food was delicious and the conversation was lively. Wow, are we a loud bunch! We had a great time. Here are some pictures from the evening. Look at that up-turned nose! Just like Daddy’s! You’re how old, Uncle Collin?!? Checking the Blog Helping Boom-Boom...

    All Aboard!

Makgill woke us up this morning at 5:45 calling “Help me” in a weak little voice. He was coughing really hard and having a difficult time breathing- so, so sad (and scary). This isn’t the first time this has happened, and we knew what we needed to do. We headed downstairs to do “Fish Face”...

      Happy Birthday, Baby!

Today Collin celebrated his thirty-first birthday. We had so much fun just spending the day together as a family. The Lord has blessed me with such an amazing husband and father to our children! We woke up this morning to Makgill jumping in bed with us shouting “Happy Birthday, Daddy!” and Clara Beth shouting happily...

A special story needing your prayers.

Our family has been following the story of Joseph Greenwood for several weeks now. I, personally, cannot get into all of the details of his situation, but he had a virus that got into his heart. He has since needed lots of medical attention. You can follow his story here: http://helpjojo.com:80/default.aspx Jo Jo has become...

I would like to say thank you for your kindness and support
You are providing to JoJo and his family.
          With Love, Hope and Faith,
          Joseph’s Aunt Phyllis

          Overview of Joseph’s Story:
Five year old Joseph Greenwood is currently in the Medical University of SC Pediatric Cardiac ICU.
This all started in March of 2006, with a virus that caused Joseph (JoJo) to have a high-grade fever. The virus invaded and damaged his heart. Joseph was diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, a rare weakening of the heart muscles. This eventually led JoJo to a long admission at MUSC in August 2006, with the implantation of an internal defibrillator. On March 24, 2007 the defibrillator discharged appropriately and saved his life when Joseph collapsed on the family porch in Florence. His father, Stephen, successfully performed CPR on JoJo. Within 3 hours JoJo was airlifted to MUSC. On March 25, 2007, Joseph was placed on a life saving heart and lung bypass machine (ECMO). Joseph was placed on the Heart Transplant list on March 26, 2007. On April 4, 2007 Joseph was the first child in SC to receive the Berlin Heart Pump.
Joseph underwent a heart transplant on April 13, 2007.

          Joseph’s Miracle has happened!
JoJo received his new heart on Friday, April 13, 2007.

Please keep Joseph in your thoughts and prayers for a full recovery.

The Poet Johnnie Baum sent the poem below to us and we would like to share it with you as a small gesture of thanks to the family of the young person that gave Joseph the precious gift of life.

LITTLE ANGEL Little angel resting, in Jesus’ gentle hands. Now he knows everything, and he understands. Another child needed, what he had to give. He had served God’s purpose, this other one would live. He got a heroes welcome, when he crossed heaven’s shore. Love had saved another child, and that’s what love is for. A host of other angels, for him did loudly play. And they sang a new song, for him on that day. Worry not for this new angel, he is truly blessed. The glories he now knows, no man could have guessed. To the child left behind, may this heart beat strong. May your life be joyful, and may it be long. You too have been blessed, ’cause watching over you. Standing beside Jesus, is one whose love is true. Oh little one in heaven, stay near to your Lord. You have given all, according to His Word. But look upon your brother, who on this earth did stay. Help him to be able, to laugh and to play. In his growing that he’d see, the sacrifice ’twas made. Learn the meaning of compassion, and love that cannot fade. That he too will walk with Jesus, and on that future day. Will in heaven run beside you, and beside you play. Johnnie Baum
