I signed myself up to be Room-mother for Makgill’s class at school. I have no idea what I was thinking! Not that I don’t want to do it, it’s just that I don’t know WHAT to do. I’m sure there are a million things that should have been done this year that I have neglected to do. Oh, well. I guess I’ll just gain more experience as the years go on.
So anyway, we got back from Disney, and I realized that we needed to get something together for the Christmas party really soon. Ms. M (Mak’s teacher) already had a great idea in her head. The class was watching “The Polar Express” on Friday, and everyone would be in their pjs since it was Pajama Day at school. So we would serve hot chocolate with whipped cream and Christmas sprinkles on top, have one yummy treat, and pass out bells for the kids to take home. It was a really easy, but fun plan for a party.
The problem came in with the “yummy treat.” I wanted to do something more than just a cookie or cupcake, but I have ZERO creativity when it comes to that kind of thing. But I remembered the CUTE train rice crispy treats from Luke’s 2nd birthday party. I called Julie to see if she could tell me how to make them and she said “How many do you need and when do you need them? I’d love to MAKE THEM FOR YOU.” WHAT?!?! I was calling for a recipe, not placing an order! I tried to talk her out of it, but she was determined. I was at least able to talk her into letting me come over and help.
Clara Beth and I went over last Thursday to get everything done. When we arrived, she was already busy making them. CB took some time to warm up and get down and play, but once she did she and Luke had a blast. I “helped” (I put M&Ms on the trains), while Julie did EVERYTHING. She is Amazing! I hope that CB and Luke are in the same class one day, because Julie will make the BEST room-mom EVER! It was such a fun morning. I loved the grown-up conversation, and CB loved playing with Luke. And, we ended up with the cutest little choo-choo treats. Thank You So Much, Julie! You went WAY above and beyond the simple recipe I was expecting when I first called!
The final product…SO CUTE!
Sweet loves for one another!
And, by the way, the kids loved the treats! I forgot my camera, but the party was so much fun. Great idea for a Christmas party!
